I am enjoying my MFE studies much more than MLC. I can relate to the material a little more since I have seen some of it in my CFA exam studies. I am using the TIA seminar. I usually watch the lectures a couple of times and then work every problem that is assigned for the section. I plan to complete the MFE syllabus using TIA and then supplement practice with 'actuarial brew' and/or ASM. Not sure how much time will remain at the end. I am still committed to MLC and MFE in may 2011. It is looking...

Finished survival & life table concepts

Finished survival and life table concepts a few days back. It was a lot of material. I am doing every worked out example, quiz and exercise that the ASM manual has to offer. It is very time consuming. I am making a note of all questions that I have missed in each lesson. These are the problems that I shall be working out first once I complete the entire syllabus. Starting

So, after a master degree in physics, with extensive research on photonics and the enhancement of light emitting properties of Silicon, and 8 years of education work, I reached the point where one can say that s/he is among the top 3 managers of my company. It wasn't easy, but wasn't hard either, maybe it was my luck that put me in the right place on the right time, so I'm now the manager of quality assurance in charge of internal monitoring, KPIs and compliance.

Prep strategy and materials

MLC

Using ASM 10th edition 2nd printing. Plan to use TIA starting next week

Broad strategy is to view TIA videos, read ASM lesson and do all ASM problems.

Goal is to finish ASM and TIA once by March 20

MFE
-----
Using TIA currently. Also plan to work AB problems and exams.

Broad strategy is to watch TIA videos, work example and end of chapter TIA problems, work AB problems for each chapter

MLC and MFE Prep Started

Planning to take MLC, MFE in May 2011. Started preparing in November. Not putting in regular hours yet but plan to stick to a study schedule soon.
