Am I the only broke actuary?

It sometimes feels like every other post around here is "what should I do with my extra $100,000?" and I'm over here baking my own bread trying to save $5 on groceries.

Not that I'm bitter or anything. :swear:

Nope! I'm broke AF. Single income household, two (sometimes three) kids, multiple pets...

I'm somewhat broke. No credentials, two kids, child support, college funds...I have fantasies that once the kids are out of college, then I'll feel rich with all that extra money. But I doubt that's how it will play out.

Salary doesn't seem to scale in this industry as well as COL so I imagine a lot of people that aren't full credentialed in some really high COL cities aren't able to throw money everywhere

I wouldnít say that Iím broke, but I definitely donít have tons of money laying around not knowing what to do with it. As NA mentioned, kids are super expensive.

Currently no.

But for a long period when I was younger and then putting kids through college. Before direct deposit, would cash my paycheck at the company's bank and then walk with my whole pay in my pocket to deposit it in my bank, so I had it immediately

Kids are definitely my issue!

Spoiler:
Ninja'd JollyGoodFCAS on that pun

the gif of the kid throwing money out the window is fabulous.

In addition to being broke I'm now furious with myself for the typo in the thread title.

Depends on what you're putting into retirement savings. All that "after school's paid for extra money" is going to be catch up contributions for me.
