For 1A the only other bid I would consider is 5S...choice of slam with 1st round control of spades. Hearts should be in play over 5S since I could bid 4S to show a great hand with both minors. ...

I ended up changing my vote on E to 3C out of fear no one on the panel would bid 2N. Saved me 100 points. I still think I'd bid 2N at the table.

My vote for 2N on E is largely driven by wanting to hide my holding from the opponents. Since this is rarely a consideration for the panel, I may end up changing my vote to 3C.

I agree with NN. 3S is the weakest call. It says "please pass unless you are sure you want to keep going". Pass doesn't promise much more (not necessarily GF, does not create a force later) but can...

June Thoughts

(A) 3D. Show support if you have it and can't bid a major suit. And 3D is right on on values, too. If partner's suit were clubs, and you reversed my minors, I wouldn't do this because there'd be...

Feeling a little left out, but if you still want my votes:

(A) Double. I am plenty strong enough to bid spades next. Considering I'm in balancing seat, I even have extras.
(B) Double. 3D loses...

Do they have an office in New Rochelle? I thought they had at one point, but currently the mailing address on their website is in Kerhonkson, which is a good hour away.

Now that I think about it....I could bid 4C. A heart lead is important against clubs, but I'd like a club lead against diamonds. Next I could bid 5H over 5C? But it seems much less likely they...

Not that it will affect that selection, but I'm rethinking 5H on problem D, since it may influence partner to bid six over six. I think maybe I need to start with 4H and then decide later whether to...

Initial April guesses:
A 1N. I'd rather be in NT than a 6-2 fit and I don't think this is a game force. Will bid 2NT over 2C or 2S
B P. If you changed a small diamond to a small club I'd open...

You guys convinced me to go with 1N on E. Still not sure whether I'm going to do D10 or DK on H, will decide later.

There's no tie on D. As I mentioned, I voted for 2C on D, not 1S (which is not even sufficient).

That's not a psych. The reason to do that (playing Smolen, or not, by the way) would be if you wanted to play in a 5-3 major fit when partner does not hold the other major, but in notrump regardless...

I assume you mean K10xx, not K10xxx. (Dummy has shown 4 hearts and 5 spades per the footnote....the opponents are not playing Smolen.) Of course declarer is not going to play the 10 on trick 1, but...

I've been thinking about that, too. How easy is it for partner to duck the 10 (or dummy's quack) from Axxxx when there are 2 or 3 diamonds in dummy? If dummy's hearts look weak, he might be...

No tie on D. You misread my vote there too. (Are you from Iowa?) I voted for 2C. 1S would be not merely illogical but also insufficient.

I think you misread my reply on H. I voted for D10, not C10. This works when partner has AJxxx, or Axxxx and declarer has three. It also works when partner has QJxxx (or Q9xxx or Q98x with the J...

I think you are now missing that partner already preempted. 3C is absurd. 4D is not absurd, just too much given the vulnerability. I didn't mention it earlier since I don't think it will score...

I would normally assume 3C promises something unless opener was also dealer and non-vul. In that case it really can be important to bid 3C on complete air, and 1NT (or 1D or a slightly lightweight...

I object to the description of 3C. There are versions of inverted where the response is supposed to be 1NT if 3NT is likely opposite this hand, and there are versions where you would bid 3C with...

March MSC Guesses

March guesses:
(A) 3D. Not so much to block them as to compete for the partscore. I might bid higher at other colors, but not here. Note that this doesn't really block them as opener can double...

Looks like you've got my vote wrong on D. I wouldn't double 1C, 1D, or 1H with a spade void more than once in a thousand years, and certainly not with this hand. I voted for 2C and said 1H would be...

February thoughts:
(A) 3S...Be direct. Anything else risks missing a cold biddable 4S vul at IMPs.
(B) 3D...Downgrading for a singleton in partner's suit. Make the diamonds any better and I'd try...
