While I have never been laid off, there were a couple of instances of companies in trouble where the whole department was gone not long after I left.

Survived a layoff on day 9 of my current gig, though. Probably would've been poor form to hire someone and then lay them off 9 days later.

no layoffs for actuaries, although a lot of other folks have been laid off in those 9 years
