Really hope they end up getting rid of Sunday Ticket and doing something more reasonable. DirecTV is the worst, and my biggest complaint as an NFL consumer.

I think the end result will be that DirecTV will still retain the right to offer "Sunday Ticket" . . . but another venue will be allowed to offer a "Pay-per-view" option to promote competition.

And I will say that the the concept of "competition" will be central in any judicial review.

I think that DirecTV would dump Sunday Ticket if it had to compete with a package that allows a fan to watch only one team's games all year.

Another snag in this would be that "popular" teams' owners will want a proportionate slice of the pie. I can see Jerry Jones, Kraft, etc. arguing for their percentage, instead of splitting it 32 ways.

And, I don't think local affiliates will like this, since the filler commercials for local stations will be taken by the NFL for their own use, as people cut their cable and dishes. And that means the Network deals won't be as valuable.

And, cable/internet companies will simply increase their internet pricing as they slowly convert to massive video content providers.

So, depends on who the owners want to piss off the most (or least).

Anything that pisses off Pats ownership or fans is fine by me.

Wait, do the Pats actually have a real fan base? Like one that will stick around post BillBrady?

Sure about 10% of the current fan base.

i cheer for the laundry! It has been a great run. It will end, this year or soon after. Then...we'll see what they do. The weeks of hand wringing (from those who want to or profit from it) is awful. Just wake me when the decision is made.

I'm not trusting the courts on any of this - too business friendly to care about the consumers. I watch the games at sports bars - my money is better spent on beer than on NFL greed.

I think you're thinking of the NBA or tennis.

You shouldn't trust the field in this case.

Of course you shouldn't trust the field in golf - the players are always talking about the lie.
