Default Society of Hispanic Actuaries

I have decided that there needs to be an actuarial club or group for Hispanic/Latino actuaries and actuarial students. Earlier I had entertained this idea and I did not follow through. I have realized that the only way such an organization can be established is if I do it myself. I believe that creating such a club is a necessary and workable undertaking.

It is also very important for us to get together, not to negatively criticize one and other, rather we should associate to assist and advance each other. For example, those further along in the exam process can advise new students on exam material or study materials. Also, those who are newly hired can advise student actuaries preparing for the interview process, etc. The more experienced actuaries can serve as mentors to those considering the career or preparing for it in university.

Let's come together on this for mutual benefit. Having passed exams P and FM now, I am studying 100's of MLC problems as prep for the May 13th sitting. After having studied this material for a year now, I think I can help some of my younger (or older) counterparts with the test material. We can all help, and do so in a life-transforming way.

I am in the LA area, and there are plenty of places for all of us to meet and help lay a solid foundation for a fun and highly effective group. I am going to obtain a web address, create a basic website, and get the ball rolling. WE NEED THIS ORGANIZATION !

It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all--in which case, you fail by default.
