I just got to the last chapter. Plan to platinum. The chinup challenge wasn't nearly as hard as the internet made it sound. I saw people call it "the real final boss."

It's definitely a game you play for the story and not so much the action though. I mean you can run around and just cause mayhem in towns but GTAV (or Saints Row) is probably better for that because the RDR2 weapons don't lend themselves to widespread destruction.
HLTB says 47.5 hours for just main story. Nice estimate.

Borderlands never really stuck with me although I keep buying the games for some reason. Maybe the humor style isn’t really my thing.

I don't really like shooters, but I played the Telltale version (Tales from the Borderlands) and I liked the humor so much that I tried to play a real Borderlands game. But it just confirmed my dislike for shooters.

I'm also not a fan of shooters and therefore not a fan of borderlands.

But I think it would be better if played with friends and maybe alcohol? It's a nice casual game with a highly repetitive loop, and not nearly enough story reward.

I wonder if it just failed to evolve. Borderlands 1 felt a lot like diablo 2. And Borderlands 2 felt like diablo 2. Maybe the latest ones are better? But I'd be surprised.

I don't know. The last shooter I enjoyed was Bioshock Infinite, which was mostly because they fed me story and cut scenes pretty regularly.

For me, the issue is more the first person perspective. I just find it very disorienting. I remember being so excited to try Bioshock and within 15 minutes I was done. I just struggle with first person games. I'm also one of those people who still uses the old rules for side view mirrors. I HAVE TO be able to see at least a small part of the car in my mirror or it makes me feel disoriented.

If it ends up being more like Diablo 3, let me know. I enjoy Diablo 3... but that has a lot to do with being able to play with my spouse on the same couch. I think it might be about the only in-room co-op left out there.

Plus... I finally actually got a character to level 70, and it turns out there's a whole paradigm shift involved, and it becomes a completely different style of game. Wish I'd known that sooner.

The Borderlands games have couch co-op. I do wish there were more games to play with my wife though. We use https://www.co-optimus.com/ to help find new games, then watch people playing them on youtube to see if we would enjoy.

Do you use a controller or a mouse?

It's quite a huge difference for me.

A mouse makes me feel "in" the game (even if I suck) A controller makes me feel like I'm awkwardly telling some dude to do stuff.

I haven't played any VR since covid hit, but my brief foray into fallout 4 VR was like 1st person x10.

Interesting, I feel the opposite, but that's probably just due to what I am used to using. I feel like a mouse and keyboard for gaming is like using a bomb disposal robot and a keyboard feels like actual controls.
