Yes. In particular, in cases where no one complains, a post is much more likely to be deleted if a mod happens to read it. Neither posters X or Y are likely to know whether a mod is likely to happen upon that thread or that post, so it will likely look random to them. It is somewhat more likely to be deleted if a "limited power mod", like me of JMO stumbles across it.
