There is no correct line for anything in life. Just diminishing returns.
Ah, yes, I agree. The "correct" point then will vary significantly from person to person, and, consequently, we should be a bit less judgmental about what point others have chosen.

Some in this thread have noted having immunocompromised relatives has led them to choose to socially distance. That makes a lot of sense for them.

Dgtatum has noted he intends to live his life for now. That makes a lot of sense for him.

Adding to that, anyone at higher risk should take more precautions, and if you visit people at high risk, take more precautions.

People not at risk should feel free to travel, just not if they are sick, and shouldn't travel to hot spots. But we've gone well beyond that.

The value of the precautions really depends how much you think people who are sick will be responsible about it. If, with everyone being aware of it, we have near 100% self isolation compliance, it would work well, and no one would have to change much of anything. If 25% of people say 'screw it', then the extra precautions are also needed.

He has implied that he doesn't plan on making any life adjustments for this no matter what the situation is. He is acting like its almost offensive to ask people to engage in the slightest social distancing.

Er, did they suggest you call, instead? Because that would be smart of them to do.
They put the number of the NYC Department of Health hotline and said to call them, not call my pcp at all. The claimed they aren't equipped to deal with it. I guess the flu got put under that umbrella of not equipped to deal with it since there is no way to know if you have the flu vs corona at the beginning, so they won't deal with the flu either. I think flu season is close to the end though anyway?

i'm concerned that they will at some point have a lockdown of NYC like they are in italy. that would be extreme and I hope that doesn't happen. people will riot.

That comment wasn’t referring to your post...read it again with that in mind and you’ll get a very different message.

Remember, people. This is an Internet forum and we are only providing partial information with each comment.
