Default Cruise - Venting

OK, this is just me venting, so unless you want to hook up a power generating device that works off super-heated steam, you've probably already read more than you want to.....

We booked a cruise in the Mediterranean. The booking was all done over the phone and the full charge was deducted from the credit card while I was still on the phone talking to the booking agent. 36 hours later we get an email saying please call us as there is a problem with the cruise. So I call the company and it turns out they had accidentally booked us on the wrong date. They blame the cruise line entirely (something about the date not being clear on the computer screen) without a word of apology on their side. No reservations available at all on the desired date. And the credit charge hasn't yet been reversed which means we are unable to use it to book anything else.....

I'm pretty annoyed at the mistake - and I'm still wondering if they were trying some sort of bait and switch. But even more annoyed at their handling of it. They've basically completely messed up our vacation plans, are completely unapologetic about it and haven't refunded the money.

Gaaaah! (Thank you for listening.)

What do you expect, he's a Scientologist and he's still in the closet, last I heard.

Why on earth would you use a travel agent in this day and age?

Just remember, it's the Mediterranean - DD/MM/YYYY and not MM/DD/YYYY

You'll thank me when it's all over.

Maybe the travel agent assumed the cruise line observed the Gregorian calendar instead of the Julian. David Ogden Stiers learned that lesson the hard way.

I was really hoping this was a rant about people who don't use cruise control on the interstate...

Don't those people suck?

I can't run my cruise control and vent at the same time and it is usually a hot day!

This is why I always book with the cruise line itself.
