Default Whatever happened to social distancing?

Seems like it hasn't really been a concern lately.

We'll find out soon enough.

ya, that's what i'm saying in political, but i was told i'm super wrong to worry about the inevitable spike in COVID cases that result and these protests are way more important than silly COVID deaths.

Still is here. We drop down to level 3 on Monday when retail stores open and weddings and funerals can go up to 20 people.

Eta We've had 3 new cases in the last month or two. 2 were people returning from out of province and 1 was a bit of a mystery. Assuming travelers go through their required 14-day self isolation period, my odds of picking up a case here is negligible.

it's not here because everyone is too busy protesting and clashing with police in mass gatherings.

it's bizzarro world. the cases are way low right now, but there is likely going to be a huge spike very soon. it's horrifying. we were doing so well in NY before a cop decided to murder someone.

SD has loosened up noticeably in places that have "opened up", even though there haven't been changes to SD guidelines. As people see others loosening up, it causes themselves to rationalize new behavior and take on incremental risk.

Sure, the protests will spread things also, but at least there is a high level of mask wearing from what I've seen.

Most of the protest photos I've seen show people wearing masks, not standing nearly as close as in other protests. Social distancing is still here, just not as effectively "here" as would be ideal for fighting the pandemic.

Take care when looking at photos/videos of those protests. Get the right angle, and distances between objects can be very deceptive.

I don't think it's an attempt by the photographer/videographer to be intentional (but I'm sure that there's going to be some exceptions) as they often look to find a single spot to capture the highest range of "interesting" shots; and the distance-deception is merely coincidental.

Doesn't help that law enforcement is confiscating masks from protesters and also kettleling protesters.
Hard to protrsr safely in the time of covid with these diisgusting actions from law enforcement.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/black...b68bc1a40159b9

Quote:
Law enforcement agents have seized hundreds of cloth masks that read “Stop killing Black people” and “Defund police” that a Black Lives Matter-affiliated organization sent to cities around the country to protect demonstrators against the spread of COVID-19, a disease that has had a disparate impact on Black communities.

The Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) spent tens of thousands of dollars on the masks they had planned to send all over the country. The first four boxes, each containing 500 masks, were mailed from Oakland, California, and were destined for Washington, St. Louis, New York City and Minneapolis, where on May 25 a white police officer killed George Floyd, a 46-year-old handcuffed Black man, setting off a wave of protests across the country.

But the items never left the state. The U.S. Postal Service tracking numbers for the packages indicate they were “Seized by Law Enforcement” and urge the mailer to “contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for further information.”
Law enforcement is not allowing people to protect themselves while protesting.
