Lots of practice plus discussing this particular event.

Or are you mocking me? Please translate!

And what did I say that she said without saying it?

It was hard to watch the dog like that when I realized what was going on.
I would chalk it up her reaction to the recording as reacting against one more weird unsettling action in a series of unsettling threatening actions.

That's said I totally forgot she didn't call till after approaching him, which definitely saps my aggression in fear argument.

Central Park is full of black people. It's full of people in general. The ramble is designed so that you don't have long sight lines, and sometimes you can briefly feel alone with nature. But the thing that surprised me about the video is that we never see another person come into view.

I thought her description of the guy was bizarre, because there's zero chance the cops can identify a man if the description is "a black man".

yeah... I used to live in NYC. I had several threatening interactions while I was there. I always retreated, or kept walking briskly. I never ran up to a threatening person and wagged my finger in their face.

And honestly, a guy standing still saying, "please don't get close to me" is not my idea of a scary, threatening person.

same. you're always on guard in nyc. you don't run up to threatening people. there are a lot of crazies on the street.

also, when you look at that guy, he really does not look scary at all. just don't believe she was scared.

When have (true) New Yorkers ever "walk away" from a confrontation (initiated by a stranger)?

Not arguing that she couldn't walk away . . . just wondering just how "easy" it would've been to overcome (possible) social conditioning.

Are we only people to act according to their 'true' stereotype/ caricatures promulgated by media and fiction?
