What you saw in NYC is basically upper class racism. Classic #firstworldproblems when you expand the scope of your views beyond Central Park in NYC.

This is real, unadulterated US every day racism:

oh yeah, that person is way worse than Amy Cooper. she's also dumb as shit.

i'd assume she doesn't have a job to get her fired from though.

Amy Cooper might be more dangerous because she isn't dumb. It's less likely that someone will take that crazy woman in that video seriously.

I'm not at all convinced that this lady represents the real problem of racism in America. People like her are easily identified and can be mostly ignored (for now - Trump is trying really hard to empower people like her).

The real problem is the people who are unaware of their racism (and will argue against its presence), and the systemic problems that has built and continues to cause.

Unless you're on the Tube, in which case, talking is prohibited.

Just kidding, in case it wasn't obvious. She probably didn't say it's not a good idea to pick up strangers' kids though, probably more along the lines of Americans not liking it.
I would stay we were stunned, but we also laughed about it, although that was probably later. In the moment, I would say we looked more surprised than angry, but I don't really know. I mean, the guy was probably in his 70's at least, so we never really took it as a threat.

When we visited China a few years later, everyone stared at us, but especially our light-haired daughters. The younger generation would ask us, or our guide, if they could take pictures, etc. The older generation just tried to slyly take pictures without us noticing. So, definitely a generational difference.

His sister wrote an article on "why" she posted it on Twitter

After reading it, I put her more into the "wanted to do it more for a noble intention" camp over "advancing her own career" camp.

Kind of ridiculous that people are trying to spin it against the sister. Absolutely pathetic.

Call us cynical, but since the advent of twitter I have seen this behavior way too many times.

She had to explain herself as this has all become much more serious.
