Had a friend who moved to Houston to work with Enron. I remember the day he was let go, he tried to call me at work. At that time my "office" was a desk in a large room we were using because our HQ was closed due to post-9/11 cleanup at the WTC. Don't believe I spoke to him at work, but we did connect shortly afterwards. He was smart enough not to invest in their 401k because of the lack of diversification.

I did consulting work briefly at an energy company that really dodged a bullet. Enron had agreed to acquire them but some paperwork got sent back by the SEC because it required ink signatures. Before the deal could be completed Enron went belly-up.

Good thing he could dodge bullets, otherwise it would have been a fast ow for him.
