Default Is wearing a mask a sign of weakness?

Based off a comment someone made about seeing couples in which the woman/wife is wearing a mask but the husband/man isn't, speculating that men associate wearing a mask with being weak or non-masculine.

Also, there've not been many polls lately.

And yes I see there's a typo with one of the poll choices but I don't know how to fix it.

I think that it's a sign of either wearing it creates (legitimate) problems breathing or that they don't really understand its purpose (i.e., they don't care if they catch the virus).

The theory I heard was mask wearing implies weakness, which is unmasculine, so guys are most resistant to wearing one. Women are more used to being perceived as weak and as well as being caretakers, so they're more okay with wearing a mask.

I don't see it as unmasculine, but probably at least partly because I see it as a way to show some personality. Not too many people are wearing Suicidal Tendencies masks. I like how many people are taking the opportunity to personalize their mask. If I had to wear plain white, I might feel differently. Probably still wear it, but more grudgingly.

Surgeons and firefighters and coal miners wear masks, and those are all pretty traditionally masculine professions.

Sounds like something Trump thinks, therefore automatically wrong.

the vast majority of the masks are to stem spreading the virus, not catching it.

So those who don't wear it for reasons of weakness are too stupid to deal with

You don't wear a mask primarily to protect yourself from others, you wear it to protect others from yourself.

So it's completely logical that republicans don't want to wear masks, because they're inherently selfish and don't care about hurting other people.
