I gave up on Breaking Bad because I found it too depressing. I thought House of Cards was light compared to that. It was really well done, and there were certainly funny parts, but the overall plot arc was, imo, incredibly depressing.

I liked Orange is the New Black, which you'd think would be depressing, but mostly isn't. Nurse Jackie is on Netflix now, too. That's a more cheerful cross between comedy and drama, with some soap-opera thrown in.

And if you like action/adventure, I enjoyed Burn Notice. Lots of eye candy, a car chase and an explosion in almost every episode, and the good guys (almost) always win.

Netflix also has tons of movies and stuff.

How about food shows? The great British baking show is fun.
