Default What's are thoughts on acronyms or shorthand on the exam?

If I want to use general insurance acronyms that aren't covered in the source text, like for example LOB for line of business, would that be okay?

I think this has been addressed, but I think it's buried in some other threads making it difficult to do a search.

I'll look to sticky this thread for future reference because this question does come up often; and it would be useful to know up front.

And to answer the OP's question--and others should feel free to chime in with additional thoughts or examples for discussion . . .

If it's something that is used extensively in the syllabus reading, and there's no ambiguity about what it's capturing, then use of acronyms/abbreviations should be just fine.

In many other cases, if it is clear from the problem statement or your write up what your shorthand is intended to be, that should generally be okay.

IMO, this topic is on that borderline between spelling and comprehension. You're not graded for correct spelling, but the reader needs to be able to understand what you're saying.
