I think the second page of that is my favorite, particularly the survival section.

My favorite use of skills comes from my middle school bff.

DM's younger brother:
So what do we know about this ring thing that everyone's looking for?

DM:
Does anyone have mythological history?

DM's younger brother:
Yeah. <rolls> 16.

DM:
Okay, you know that the ring of the elves is a blue sapphire set in gold, and blessed with powerful magic. It has the ability to turn the user invisible at will, but is also said to be cursed. About 100 years ago, it was used by the princess of Rivendale to escape the war of the trolls, and she was last seen in Laketown, but she died mysteriously.

DM's younger brother:
Just kidding I don't have history. Let's go to Laketown guys.

If you have a creative DM though, he'll find ways to make you pay for that.

Oh look. It just so happens that younger brother's treasure was cursed and somehow they missed that. Or "Did you fireproof you're clothes because the guy carrying a lamp just tripped. No? Well -1 to Charisma for you due to scarring then."

Or, better yet, "Oh, did I say Laketown? Because that is what you remembered when you didn't know anything. Unfortunately, you find nothing there but upset the local guards and get thrown in jail. They have helped themselves to your gold."

I remade my character sheet. I hope I can make some time to go to my game tonight.
