Default 2019 SOA Elections

Two candidates for President-Elect (vote for one)
Roy Goldman
Jim Toole

Ten candidates for Board Member (vote for five)
Janet Duncan
Robert Eaton
Gregory Fann
William Fornia
Sharon Giffen - Canada
Lisa Kuklinski
Brian Louth - Canada
Timothy Rozar
Hans Wagner
Vincent Xuan

At least one of the two marked "Canada" must be elected, but it sounds like we don't have to vote for either of them if we don't want to. But at least one of them *will* win, even if not among the top five vote-getters.

Petition process about to be underway.

Thoughts?

My thoughts: Is it normal to announce the candidates more than a month before the conclusion of the petition process?

Still only two candidates for President is disappointing. Don't the bylaws specify that "ordinarily" there will be three? Have we been in "extraordinary" times for the last 5 years or however long it's been since there were three candidates selected by the nominating committee?

I don't know any of the candidates this time... what say the rest of you about the individual candidates?

They did the same thing last time re: timing of announcing candidates vs petition candidates:

Petition candidates: only two this year

Tom Bakos for P-E

and

Martin Snow for Board

I've put in my petition vote for both.

I thought they only allowed you to petition on behalf of one candidate. Has that changed?

Also, yes, it changed.

Here are the 6 people running as Board petition candidates:

You can select up to 3 of the Petition candidates for the Board. Please do so.

This year, it doesn't matter. There is one person petitioning for P-E, and one for Board.
