Has the deadline to be a petition candidate passed? So no more could be added to the slate?

Anyone have any concerns with the proposed changes in legal structure?

Yes.

Here is the related thread:

Whether any of the candidates are... I don't know.

I think it's a good idea, but it would be good if they're more explicit on what the new structure will enable the SOA to do.

According to an email I received, Mr. Snow still has a ways to go before receiving enough nominations to be placed on the ballot. So, if it's important to you that Mr. Snow is added to the ballot, be sure to submit your nomination.

Thanks to those who have signed my petition and encouraged others to do the same.

With two weeks remaining to my petition drive, the SOA informed me that I have received 228 nominations. As I need 601 to be placed on the ballot, more nominations are needed.

I am reaching out to ask those who have not yet done so to please sign my petition and to encourage at least one other member of your network to do the same.

Each and every signature counts and with your support I will be placed on the ballot.

For your convenience, the petition login page is
https://www.directvote.net/SOAvotePET/

If you do not have your election login information, please click on the link below, enter your email address that is on file with SOA, and your election login information will be emailed to you.
https://www.directvote.net/SOAvotePET/sendID.aspx

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you have any difficulty signing the petition - I will work with SOA to resolve the issue.

I am also re-enclosing the link to my point drive with key campaign information - https://ptdrv.linkedin.com/wxmrvay

Thanks in advance for your endorsement and support.

Martin

SOA Elections Open Monday, August 19!

Prepare to cast your vote for the future of the Society of Actuaries (SOA). Vote to approve the legal structure changes and choose your 2019-2020 elected Board members, including president-elect.

Legal Structure Change

The SOA Board of Directors proposes a change to the legal structure and tax-exempt status of the organization. It involves creating a new not-for-profit entity tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code, which will adopt the Society of Actuaries' name. The current not-for-profit entity, tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3), will become a controlled affiliate of the SOA and will be renamed the Society of Actuaries Research Institute.

We are asking eligible members (fellows) to consider voting for these important changes. This legal structure change does not impact membership services, governance nor your membership status. Through these changes we will better align our structure to support our increasing efforts to support and promote the actuarial profession.

As the SOA increases its efforts to promote the actuarial profession and the SOA credentials, operating as a 501(c)(6) organization will better align with this mission. Maintaining the 501(c)(3) entity will be equally important, given our historic mission of advancing actuarial knowledge through education and research. Read the Frequently Asked Questions and send your questions to membercomms@soa.org.

Candidates for Board and President-Elect

Get to know the candidates for the Board and president-elect as you prepare to vote on Monday, August 19. View biographies and statements to members as well as video messages from the candidates for president-elect.
Remember voting starts August 19 and closes September 6.
