Default Head start on AFE

Buongiorno, everyone

I have only the new ERM exam and FAP Modules left until my CERA. Since there is no way I can study for this Spring's AFE exam and FAP modules have not yet been finalised for CERA track (I think, please correct me if I am wrong), I wanted to get a head start on studying for the new ERM exam to be offered in the Fall.

What is the best way to go about that? Since there is no syllabus yet, do people have any suggestions? Should I read some ERM book, or take FAP 1-5 or else?

Thanks,
T

You still have time for the Spring 2012 exam (as long as you can devote 350 hours to study for that).

Unfortunately, since the syllabus will be split into two exams, there are a lot of uncertainties. My suggestion is that you can read the online readings (since they are free).

Thanks, Eddy, but I cannot devote 350 hours for the Spring sitting. Also, I do not need the second component of the joint exam.

I agree with PAK to spend some time with the free online readings.

They may not end up in the final syllabus of the ERM exam, but it will give you a flavor for some of the topics that may be covered.

Thank you both. So you would not recommend me starting with FAP modules yet?

I see that the new FAP modules are already in effect, according to this:

http://www.soa.org/education/general...w-version.aspx

That said, according to this, the new requirements for CERA don't come into effect until July 1:
http://www.soa.org/education/general...y-changes.aspx

I would email the SOA directly to make sure the new FAP modules that are out there now are the same ones as for the new CERA pathway going into effect later this year. I would assume yes, but it's not safe to assume.

I agree with MPC. Even though it "looks" like the same, it is more secured to get the confirmation from the SOA first before you register the FAP.

FYI, all, the SOA confirmed that the FAP is already CERA-ready and can be taken at any time.

Now I am debating whether to go the FAP route or take a break and wait for the ERM exam...
