Another question (2018 Fall #3) -- in relation to raw land REITs

the solution says this type of investment fails to meet the fiduciary responsibility of making the property productive.... how is this the case with an REIT?

I assume it has to be because its 'raw land' and if it's raw land it's not making money until something is actually built. ie. if its vacant, it can't be making money "property productive". but that's wha ti assumed

RPIRM-123-13: Risk Management and Public Plan Retirement Systems (Appendices background only)

Can someone please confirm my understanding that we only need to read pages 34-40 of this reading? The QBS has notecards on other parts of the reading too but if you guys also agree that we don't need to know that information then it'll save me some brain space.

It is confusing because Appendix A in the reading is labeled "Background." However, "(Appendices background only)" means the main content of the article (pages 1-33) is formally on the syllabus, and the appendices (pages 34-53) are meant to provide supplementary background information that isn't formally on the syllabus.

It's the same reading as DA-114-13, but the DA syllabus tests the appendices and notes that pages 1-33 are background only.

Ah okay that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying! Although not exactly what I wanted to hear.

Does anyone currently studying or anyone who have studied before find the PAK mock questions and exams helpful? I was hoping to use them to take as timed practice exams but just did a read through and thought the format was pretty different from the actual exams.

I think that the PAK questions were more similar to older exams (pre 2013) where they asked more list based questions. I haven't looked at those older exams but I do hear that exam committee has moved away from list based questions and want more "explain" and "describe" type questions.

these were some famous last words. But i was not hypocrite, I didn't go back and restudy this. So at least I'll be able to have my integrity for second sitting

I am a hypocrite. I went back and read the key duration questions in the PAK practice questions before the exam and found them useful. I will not have my integrity if I'm there for a second sitting.
