Have had many 7-10's, bounced a pin out a couple times, but never covered it. Covered the 4-6-7-10 once as well as the 4-6-7-9-10.

A clean series is doable.

It must be rough to leave a 4-6-7-10, walk the 6 over to the 4 but not the 7.

The 5-7 should theoretically be easier than the 5-10 for a ball hooking to the left, but it never worked that way in practice for me.

Is it OK to call the 4-6-7-9-10 a Greek church?

The long pattern in my sport shot league is bothersome.

43 feet of oil, with out of bounds outside of 5.

A lot of people are having problems getting the ball to hook, but my Scorchin' Inferno really plows through and hooks a ton. Problem is, staying away from OB, and also missing inside of target (right on nose) Doh!

Still averaging 185 in this league, only one of 36 bowlers over 200 through 6 weeks, and he is at 202. Very tough but fair shot. Definitely makes you throw different shots/balls, to get to the pocket.

I just saw this thread for the first time today... thought I'd add this little tidbit:

When rawl316 used to bowl regularly, his right forearm was noticeably larger than his left forearm. He tried telling us all that it was because he bowled, but knowing rawl, it was more than likely from some other activity he participated/s in often.

I usually call it a Greek church, but I wasn't sure if that name was commonplace.

2 questions about the 4-6-7-9-10 leave
1. Why is it called a greek church? If it's the orientation of the pins left, I just don't see it.
2. What's a better way to pick it up? (as a rhb, should you come in on the left side of the 4 and get the 4 to kick right, or come in on the right side of the 6 and get the 4 to kick left?)

Advantages to hitting the 6:

Slightly better angle because of hook
More wood flying around
More count if spare not made

Advantage to hitting the 4:

Legitimate chance to make the darn thing. If you can slide the 4 in front of the 9, it will bounce towards the 6.

If you have to make this spare, move to the left side of the approach, cut down your hook, throw it hard, close your eyes and hope.

PS - Can it be made by deflecting the 6 from the 9 into the 4-7?
