Default How many times laid off?

I'm curious to see how many years on average an actuary works before a layoff. Let's not count "I got fired because because I never showed up to work", or "I took 3 hours martini lunches".

n = how many years you have been an actuary
l = how many times laid off

n=24

l = 1

At the time l occurred, n=7

at n = 17, another layoff happened at another company, but I survived that one.

At time n = -1, there was a large restructuring and layoff at my first company. So I just missed all that fun, but no actuaries were layed off as a part of it.

I switched jobs at n=6.

Although if I could get a severance package and just play poker for a few months, I would cross my fingers for l=1.

That excludes one consulting firm I left because it was dying and another where there was bad mojo between the Founding Father and me, where I supposed I would eventually have been thrown out if I hadn't left gracefully.

At n=3, I survived about a 10% department lay off.
