n=1.5
l=1

I was the last one hired and the first to go. Had just passed an exam too - never got to see the salary bonus in effect.

hi orion, I bet you must be working on a pension firm. Seriously, pension firms are not having a good time...... even if you make progress on the exams.

Nope, life/health insurer. The whole company's in trouble, though, so I wasn't terribly surprised.

Not an actuarial job, but a part-time job when I was in college. The layoff turned out to be a good thing for me because I got unemployment payments while having more time to study for my classes. I knew that it had nothing to do with my performance. I was the newest, part-time employee. It was a family business, so they didn't want to lay off people who'd been there for a long time. And they knew I wasn't going to stick around anyway. Nevertheless, it hurt. I had (still have) very big ego. That's why I always try to quit before they have a chance to get rid of me. :p

Job #10 we lost the house; wife #2 and car stayed with me.

We're still looking for job #12 (ostensibly self-employed consulting meanwhile).

n=4 (actually around 3.75)
l=1

Occured @n=4 as well - currently do analytical work for a Mortgage company.

Was fired for exams as mentioned in a prior thread, but shortly after my departure others were layed off as well (including two FCAS's).

Just as long as it is not from the RF.

Oh, I was layed off after two weeks from Little Sleazers when I was 15, since I was too young to operate the dough flattening machine. Does that count?
